BRIGANTIA is an historical re-enactment society dedicated
to the pagan tribes of Britain of the third to first centuries BC, also
known as The Celts. Although our name comes from a
tribe in the north of Britain, we are based around Portsmouth in
Hampshire in the south of England.
Our society was formed in
1990 and has been busy travelling around the UK and Europe to
perform public displays of combat and living history for fairs,
museums, schools, local councils and national heritage organizations.
Brigantia has done schools weeks,
films, TV
appearances, documentaries, combat displays and domestic displays for
English Heritage, local councils, television companies, museums and
fairs.
We are not a big
organisation, and
usually field up to a dozen of our members at a show. If a show
needed
more than this, then we invited other Celtic groups to come along.
We have done shows with up to 40 fighters on the field.
